I am the daughter of a selfless, and highly spiritual woman & healer who studied personal and spiritual development when we were very young, and taught me well. When I was 16, after surgery to remove part of her cancerous colon, she was given 6 months to live.She flatly refused the prognosis and cured herself of life-threatening cancer. Prevent Cancer Now!
Her mother was an outstanding clairvoyant faith healer from England. She had faced a lot of challenges not knowing how to protect herself, or clear her energy of that which was not "hers". My spiritually supportive family encouraged me to realize that I, too, am a powerful, able woman and have the gifts of healing and clairvoyance. Mother encouraged my creation ability at an early age telling me "thoughts are things", and to "watch what you think and say, you create it".
At the age of 20, I moved to a small town in British Columbia, where I started my family of 2 children.I began an earnest study of metaphysics beginning with hatha yoga and meditation, delving into health and Spirituality. With an insatiable thirst for knowledge, I ordered courses and classes through the mail - from astrology to vegetarianism and Zen Buddhism. If the library didn't have what I needed, I would drive 100 miles to Vancouver to purchase books. The more I learned the more I wanted to learn.
At the age of 30, I moved to Vancouver to get a "formal" education. Wanting to assist people in making positive life choices through counselling, I decided to study social work. After four years working in the field, and studing spirituality on the side, I realized my sensitivity was a double-edged sword - unable to protect myself from the pain and negativity around me, I became ill.
During a year's leave of absence, I began an intensive period of personal growth, focusing on personal development, protection and self-healing. Although I was apprehensive about returning to the same work, the energy training, tools, and techniques served me well. I was able to continue without adverse effects, actually holding my power well, for an additional four years until my children left home.
Meanwhile, I continued my studies and practice in the healing and related arts, while developing my psychic/intuitive skills and learning more about wellness. Since 1986 I have been offering healings professionally, and in 1988 began teaching classes in metaphysics, teaching the tools I had gleaned from various sources.
Feeling blessed by these gifts of clairvoyance and healing, I also take pleasure in facilitating others on their healing journeys. Seeing people unfolding and growing, as they realize the power they have over their own lives and their own choices, fills me with joy.
I have taught Taoist Tai Chi as a volunteer for 8 years.I presently keep myself fit energetically with connection to my Divine guru, Ammachi, selfless service, meditation, physically by various exercise, rebounding, kayaking, dance, and give back to the universe for that which I've received (seva).
Having my prayers for a teacher answered by a living master - Ammachi coming into my life,see below. I've watched myself grow and become softer and more compassionate in my life and more powerful and psychic in my work. My spirituality has deepened and become more focused. I never cease to be amazed by my blessed life unfolding.
In 2002, Amma gave me my spiritual / Sanskrit name Kalavati (Pronounced ka laa va te) which means "the goddess who bestows divine arts". It is now my legal first name.
